Council Nominations 2019

This is your opportunity to make a difference in your profession through your interest and participation. Nominate a CMLTM Council representative now.

The rules governing nomination of members to stand for election to the College Council, and procedure to follow in nominating candidates for election are briefly as follows:

The province is divided into two Electoral Divisions. Division 1 is the City of Winnipeg and Division 2 is the portion of the province outside the City of Winnipeg.

This election is for one (1) vacancy in Electoral Division #1 and one (1) vacancy in Electoral Division #2.

Any two (2) technologists on the active or inactive register of the College, regardless of which electoral division they reside in may nominate members in Electoral Divisions No. 1 and No. 2 to stand for election to the CMLTM Council for the ensuing three (3) year term.

We are also in need of a 2nd registrant from Electoral Division #2 for a two (2) year term. A current Council member agreed to extend their period by one (1) year when no nominations from Division #2 were received. In the event that this seat cannot be filled, Council will appoint a registrant at will.

Members nominating candidates to stand for election to Council are required to obtain the following from the nominee:

Please use the linked Biographical Sketch form as approved by Council (form also available on the CMLTM website).

The foregoing particulars are to be received by the Registrar no later than Friday, July 6, 2019 to janelle@cmltm.ca or at the following address:

CMLTM
245 Lilac Street
|Winnipeg, Manitoba
R3M 2S2

Following the close of nominations, and when an election is required, a ballot (electronic) will be prepared and emailed to each voting member. Complete voting instructions will be included in the email.

The Medical Laboratory Technologists Act, S.M. 2002, c. 12 ---- Cap. M100, Part 3 Section 6(5) Officers, states “The members of the Council shall elect from among themselves the officers of the College specified in the by-laws, in the manner and for the terms specified in the by-laws”.

We wish to point out to you that this means an individual is not elected to any specific position on the Council.  According to By-Law III; 3.1 Officers of the Council; “... the Council shall select from amongst its members a treasurer, either a chair and vice-chair, or two co-chairs, all of whom shall be members of the College and such other officers as it may see fit”.

Terms are three (3) years which will commence January 1, 2020 and run until December 31, 2022, unless otherwise indicated.

All expenses are reimbursed while on approved Council business, particularly all costs related to attendance of Council meetings and CMLTM approved board training.

Please consider standing for nomination for the CMLTM Council.
