Registration Process

If you are an Internationally Educated Medical Laboratory Technologist (IEMLT) and would like to register as an MLT in Manitoba, the following steps must be followed: 

  1. Contact CAMLPR to complete a Prior Learning Assessment, and
  2. Write one (1) or more CAMLPR Field of Practice exam(s).
  3. Review the policy BOA-20: Substantive Equivalency, available on the Policies page on the Resources tab. 
    If you are an employee of Shared Heath that meets the requirements laid out in this policy, you may be able to have education and work experience at Shared Health deemed as substantively equivalent.
  4. Submit an Application Form* to CMLTM with all required documents (see the checklist) to cmltm@cmltm.ca or janelle@cmltm.ca when...
    • CAMLPR confirms that you are eligible to write a CAMLPR exam and you plan to seek employment as an MLT in Manitoba, OR
    • When you have successfully completed and passed a CAMLPR exam and plan to seek employment as an MLT in Manitoba.
  5. Once CMLTM has all required documentation, you have passed one or more CAMLPR exam(s), and completed all requirements from the checklist, CMLTM Staff will refer your file to the Board of Assessors (BOA) for review. This review may take up to five (5) business days. The CMLTM office will send you communications from the BOA as soon as possible.

*Please note that CMLTM has an English Language Proficiency Policy outlined in BOA-17 that must first be met before you can apply. You can find BOA-17 on our  Policies Page on the Resources tab.

CMLTM 2024 - 2029 Fees for Registration

The fees that will apply are the:  

  • $100 application fee
  • Current Year Active/Conditional Member Fee

The forms may be submitted by mail or delivered to the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) office at 245 Lilac Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 2S2. Or by email to  registrar@cmltm.ca
