Nominations Open

This is your opportunity to make a difference in your profession through your interest and participation. Nominate a CMLTM Council representative now.

The rules governing nomination of members to stand for election to the College Council, and procedure to follow in nominating candidates for election are briefly as follows:

The province is divided into two Electoral Divisions. Division 1 is the City of Winnipeg and Division 2 is the portion of the province outside the City of Winnipeg.

This election is for one (1) vacancy in Electoral Division #1 and one (1) vacancy in Electoral Division #2

Any two technologists on the active or inactive register of the College, regardless of which electoral division they reside in may nominate members in Electoral Divisions No. 1 and No. 2 to stand for election to the CMLTM Council for the ensuing two year term.

Members nominating candidates to stand for election to Council are required to obtain the following from the nominee:

  1. A SIGNED NOMINATION FORM* indicating willingness to stand as a candidate for election to Council (form fill PDF available on the CMLTM website, but must be printed and signed).
  2. A BIOGRAPHICAL SKETCH* AND A PHOTOGRAPH of the candidate (include current C.V./Resume).

*Links will take you to a blank page. Top left corner will be a box with a link to the PDF.

Please use the Biographical Sketch form linked above as approved by Council (form also available on the CMLTM website via the "Important Documents" link on the main page, or in the Resource Library).

The foregoing particulars are to be received by the Registrar no later thanMonday, July 9th, 2018 at the following address: 245 Lilac Street, Winnipeg, Manitoba, R3M 2S2 or by e-mailing janelle@cmltm.ca

Following the close of nominations, and when an election is required, a ballot (electronic) will be prepared and emailed to each voting member. Complete voting instructions will be included in the email.

The Medical Laboratory Technologists Act, S.M. 2002, c. 12 ---- Cap. M100, Part 3 Section 6(5) Officers, states “The members of the Council shall elect from among themselves the officers of the College specified in the by-laws, in the manner and for the terms specified in the by-laws”.

I wish to point out to you that this means an individual is not elected to any specific position on the Council.  According to By-Law III; 3.1 Officers of the Council; “... the Council shall select from amongst its members a treasurer, either a chair and vice-chair, or two co-chairs, all of whom shall be members of the College and such other officers as it may see fit”.

Terms are three years, which will commence January 1st, 2019 and run until December 31st, 2021.

All expenses are reimbursed while on approved Council business, particularly all costs related to attendance of Council meetings and CMLTM approved board training.

Please consider a nomination. From my own experience, I can say this is an insightful and rewarding experience.

Sincerely,

Oleskandra Alex Machynia, MLT
Chair, Nominating Committee
